Paul Van Sickle is a Costume Designer and Milliner based in Dublin. Paul graduated from New Mexico School for the Arts with high honours and studied costume design at Bennington College. He also pursued a millinery apprenticeship at the Santa Fe Opera and an internship with costume designer Olivera Gajic.
Paul has assisted and designed for theatre and opera across the United States, including at Torn Space Theater, Sitting Shotgun New York, and the Bushwick Starr. He worked as a production assistant for The First Purge (2018, dir. Gerard McMurray), designed costumes for a circus band in New Orleans, and worked wardrobe for touring Broadway shows at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.
Most recently, Paul worked as a milliner at the Metropolitan Opera and in costume crafts at John Kristiansen New York, constructing and repairing hats, gloves, puppets, etc for opera, film, Broadway productions, cruises, and television. He relocated to Ireland in August 2021 to pursue postgraduate work at Trinity College Dublin.
